New image for the cans available at BMR/Agrizone Group and CDL Maple Sugaring Equipment Inc.!
Friday, March 10th, 2023, Quebec. – CDL Maple Sugaring Equipment Inc. and BMR/Agrizone Group have joined their sales forces with the talents of two Quebec artists to offer new cans to their
customers for the 2023 season.
Wishing to offer not one, but two distinctive and current designs, the BMR/Agrizone Group and CDL teams began their research in 2022 to find two local artists to create the visuals for the regular and organic cans. After much research, they chose Christine Genest and Annie Carbonneau for their colorful and unique style.
Artists of choice!
Christine Genest is a painter from the county of Portneuf. She already had many works in her portfolio representing scenes from the sugaring-off season. Being a maple syrup producer herself, she is inspired by the time she spends at her sugar bush with a hundred taps located in Saint-Basile-dePortneuf. She is also co-owner of an art gallery in the same municipality where she presents her works, but also those of other artists from here. Native of Abitibi and now resident of Quebec, Annie Carbonneau is a professional illustrator with more than 10 years of experience. Her portfolio includes a good number of food product packaging designs, among other things.
“We wanted to leave a lot of latitude to the artists to let them express themselves without having too many constraints. We wanted them to draw on their memories and echo those of maple syrup producers, but above all, those of syrup consumers!” explains Éric Langlois, graphic designer at CDL. After discussing with Christine Genest, she painted her final work where we find several highlights of the maple sap harvesting process, the production of maple syrup and a cabin party. Once completed, the canvas was scanned in high definition and then adapted to the 540 ml format for the standard cane. With Annie Carbo, as the medium is different, so was the process. After filling out a sketchbook, she positioned directly on a can unifying scenes of a typical day spent with the family at the cabin, in the middle of nature, under the sun. She then proposed three designs from which a favorite was chosen. Martin Arseneault, category manager at BMR/Agrizone Group, adds: “We are convinced that the values conveyed by these visuals will delight end consumers. The bright colors and characters will stand out on store shelves and grocery stores.”
These new cans will therefore be exclusively available in the twenty CDL branches as well as in more than three hundred branches of the BMR/Agrizone Group.
